I wish I could have little print outs of this and give them to all the dudes who feel entitled to have access to me on the bus, at cafes, and when I’m just walking/biking around and won’t leave me alone even when I pointedly will not respond to them, won’t make eye contact or switch seats to get away from them. 

Hhhnnnngg, I’m torn because while I agree with the reason behind this comic - I hate it when people don’t understand the ‘I don’t feel like having a conversation now’ vibes, the right side is so exaggerated it feels like it’s saying ‘See a stranger!? DON’T FUCKING TALK TO THEM.’ The hyperbole kinda… messes up the message.  

This is obviously meant towards men who sit down and strike up uninvited conversation with strange women and don’t leave. Which is threatening and can be frightening, and entirely bothersome. We ladies don’t exist as NPCs to be approached and talked to as you search for your next quest! THIS IS VERY TRUE. You can say your hellos, but if it’s obvious she don’t wanna talk, you fucking walk. If your conversation is you asking questions or mentioning things and her making one-syllable replies, just leave. She is uninterested. 

But ugh, friendliness is such a dying art and it’s a shame we’re starting to relegate it to creeps and pushy assholes. As an extrovert French-Canadian, and on top of THAT a hippie who is confused and upset by the ever-growing trend of individualism, I enjoy having short friendly conversations with strangers, so this comic makes me feel bad. I will still compliment strangers, because as a non-threatening tiny straight-looking lady this comic is clearly not meant for me.

But still. Everyone should (feel safe to)talk to everyone (and they should feel safe too). Time is important. Share it.
