Was talking about games we played as kids and such and it made me remember/realize just how few toys I really played with. For the majority of our childhood our playroom games consisted of these things, since they could be anything we wanted. The boxes were often houses, the styrofoam packaging were stoves, food and computers, the clothes we would play dress up obvs, and the Lego was generic blocks that we could build anything out of if the game called for it. And the books usually gave us ideas, we’d flip through it and go ‘Oh, lets play adventures in the Congo Rivers! This is what we need to do!’

And before people think, this isn’t a ‘fuck you rich kids I had IMAGINATION’ sort of thing. We HAD toys, plenty of them. Hell, we had AN ACTUAL KITCHEN PLAYSET and we still prefered to use styrofoam packaging. But most of the toys we had we usually kept in our individual rooms because they were ours, and the stuff in the playroom was more ‘communal playtime improv props’
Kid imaginations are funny. There are times I’m jealous of my young self.
