The thing that bugs me about these type of ‘me vs. other girls’ graphics is that they imply that one of these is bad. I understand that this probably wasn’t the intention, but I’ve seen numerous comments of girls saying that they’re ‘not like other girls who only care about how they look’. I give zero fucks about what you wear, and I wouldn’t judge you for wearing jeans and a hoodie, so why should you judge girls who dress up?
I wear skirts and dresses most days. I take time to do my hair and put on make-up. Does that mean that I only care about how I look, as though I’m artificial and unintelligent? No. It means that I like using the time that I take to get ready to help myself wake up and have a bit of ‘me’ time before I go back and forth between school, my internship, and work. I’m not saying you have to do the same, but fuck, if you’re going to ask people to not judge you based on how you dress, don’t turn around and do the exact same thing to others.
I dress like both of these girls. It depends on my mood/the weather; sometimes I feel lazy/casual so I dress like the left! Sometimes I feel feminine/indulgent and I dress like the right! Sometimes I feel like being stereotypical dyke-y so I dress in all denim and zip up hoodies. Sometimes I like to overly contrast my Joan-Jett-like girlfriend and dress in frills and floral dresses. Sometimes I want to wear a hoodie AND a skirt. Sometimes I like to wear a man’s shirt, patterned tights, jean shorts, two scarves and a toque. Sometimes So I really have no idea what this picture is supposed to say to me. Unless the artist is trying to start a third gender that’s female but not a ‘girl’
